Hiking, camping and backpacking are the most relaxing adventures that you could enjoy, each has its own level of adrenaline which comes from enjoying nature and being outside.

Things that you don’t need while hiking or camping:

  • MP3 Player/iPod – The point of being outdoors is to detach from daily life and enjoy nature.
  • Phone – Well, keep your phone off, you might need it case of emergencies, but trust me, you are not that important, the world will still be turning while you are enjoying the outdoors.

Whether you are going hiking for few hours, a day of if you are lucky enough for more than one day.  Always remember to plan your trip and have the proper gear.

  • Gear Sugestions   ( 5 Articles )

The following articles list and explain in detail the items that I recommend having, you don’t need to purchase all of them at once, but you could build your kit in time.

Again, these are suggested items what really works for me and what gear items I had questions about.  If you are planning a major trip, please consult with the trip leader (hopefully someone who is qualified and has received the appropriate training.  If you are paying someone, please make sure that he is certified and has EMT/Medical training, otherwise he might not be able to place distress calls on your behalf…you will have call it yourself)

    The articles include:

    • Basic Gear
    • Clothing
    • Footwear
    • Backpacks
    • Backpacking Cooking
  • Places to Hike and Camp in the DC metro area   ( 4 Articles )

Places to hike and camp in the DC metro area are just countless; we are blessed with so many national parks and forests that you will need months to explore all of them.

Thanks to Mr. R. Hiker (Mid Atlantic Hikes web site) I do not have to re-create the list.  He has done an outstanding job in putting together a compilation of the entire Hiking trails in the mid Atlantic area.  His site has all the information about the trails:  How to get there, maps, GPS info, ratings, etc.

Again THANK YOU Mr. Hiker… from your Friends at Adrenaline Rx.
